"The 2011 Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 15% Merlot and offers a simple black currant, vanilla and violet bouquet that is joyful and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, crisp raspberry and dark cherry fruit, zesty acidity and lovely focus on the finish. At this price, it would be hard to find a better Cabernet. Drink now-2016."

"Rich and voluptuous, it totally saturates the palate from start to finish. Dark fruit, violets, spices and licorice all flesh out in this large-scaled, dramatic Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything simply works. The 2009 is a great wine. Even better, it is extremely fairly priced considering the quality of what is in the bottle. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine. I imagine another few years of bottle age will only help the 2009 develop even more complexity. In this vintage the Cabernet Sauvignon is 73% from Spring Mountain and 27% from Pope Valley. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024."

"It has a Bordeaux-like bouquet of blackberry, bilberry, graphite and dry tobacco that is well-defined and classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is a palpable sense of tension to this Cabernet, which exhibits great precision on the spicy, edgy finish. Full of personality, this comes highly recommended. Drink now-2017. "

"This gorgeous wine deftly balances polished cassis, dark cherry reduction and blueberry notes on a compact frame. Structured, with silky tannins lining the long finish that lingers on with hints of apple wood, spice box and underbrush. Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2014 through 2020. 6,361 cases made."

"This red shows good focus, with black currant, licorice, smoke and light herbal flavors that drive over the polished texture to the long, fresh finish. A bit grapey now, but has the balance and depth to age well. Best from 2013 through 2020. 2,500 cases made."

"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is rich, sumptuous and totally gorgeous. Plums, black currants, blackberries, menthol, licorice and sweet herbs jump from the glass as this intense, full-bodied wine shows off its considerable personality. Layers of fruit flow effortlessly as the 2009 continues to open up over time. This is a gorgeous 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029."

"Smooth and dark on the nose, this exudes a deep, earthy accent of lead pencil. The palate is firm, tannic and layered, with healthy doses of blackberry, cassis, black pepper and tobacco flavors. Like most top-level Maipo Cabernets, this shows herbal notes of olive and moss on the finish."

"Vivid, focused and juicy, featuring red berry and currant fruit inflected with toasted grain and sage notes. Shows surprising depth for a warm-climate red, with a finish that competes against a swarm of fine tannins. Drink now through 2014. 3,800 cases made"
