"Fresh and open-textured, with prominent flavors of juicy plum and red berry, shaded with tea leaf notes as the finish lingers against lightly gritty tannins. Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and others. Drink now through 2017."

"The 2012 Cotes du Rhone Les Promesses is a decidedly plump, fruit-forward effort that gives up plenty of garrigue, sweet flowers and licorice-laced black raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, it’s a serious crowd-pleaser to drink over the coming couple of years. Drink now-2017."

"There is a smooth, polished feel to this balanced wine. Wood and blackberry flavors come together with mint and thyme to make a ready-to-drink wine. The tannins, while firm, are well integrated. Drink now and until 2020."

"Butter, salt, pear and fresh-squeezed orange comprise the leading aromas. Bright orange flavors persist on the palate, as do green apple, hints of papaya and the near-chalky sensation of white."

"Dark ruby in color, aromas lean toward red fruit--black cherry and plum—made more complex by sweet oak and hints of clove. The structure is firm with appropriate acidity, distinguishing itself from the “ponderous pack.” Ripe tannins are apparent, but disappear seamlessly into the background."

"It has a wild nose of cedar, lavender, rose petals, herbs and more. Its soft mouthfeel carries more wild flavors darting through, including cherries, spices, and roasted coffee notes, and they’re all held together by a solid, but understated structure."

"A plush exterior wraps around a solid core of mineral-tinged cherry fruit, marked with accents of smoked pepper and fresh anise. Drink now through 2020. 1,185 cases made."

"100% Xinomavro. Aged in small oak French casks for 12 months and then in leaning bottles. A wine suitable for long time ageing. A full-bodied wine, ruby-red in appearance, with aromas of ripe berries accented by new oak, well balanced with an elegant long finish."

"This wine has an intense purple color with aromas of ripe fruit and concentrated wine. The subsequent oak aging gives the pleasant notes of spices and vanilla. It is full-bodied with a solid structure and fine balance between soft tannins and acidity from rich red and black fruits."

"In re-tasting the 2010 Basalt Block alongside its 2011 counterpart, I was struck by the hints of game and tobacco that were emerging on top of characteristics noted in my Issue 202 report, as well as by a slightly more pliable feel to its tannins than before; but Brittan’s 2010 Pinot Noir Gestalt Block had now clearly pulled away from its immediate sibling in clarity and complexity, with a floral dimension suggestive of wisteria and buddleia alluringly emerging inner-mouth amid crunchy black raspberry as well as on the nose; and the savory mineral salts to which I drew notice last time now leading to an even juicier, more mouthwatering, but no less ineradicable or invigorating finish. I continue to anticipate this showing well through at least 2022. "
