"This is an unusually firm and tannic wine for the varietal, and it will be great to pair with a juicy steak or fresh-baked lasagna. It smells like cedar and cinnamon, tastes fresh but not overly fruity, and has an appetizing texture."

"Brilliant ruby in color, Alanera delights the senses with a variety of aromas and flavors that include fresh and dried cherries and prunes, sweet spice, and hints of coffee and tobacco. On the palate, Alanera is full-bodied with elegant and velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity brings balance and freshness, and supports a long and harmonious finish."

"The youthful and aromatic 2016 Malbec has an alcohol level that is one degree lower than the 2015, as the grapes where harvested earlier because of the problems with the vintage. This ended up being an advantage to produce a light and very drinkable Malbec, balsamic and aromatic, even minty with something that reminded me of basil leaves. The palate is similar to the 2015, a tad fresher, and even if they are very similar in style this 2016 is more exuberant in the aromas. A triumph over the vintage. A perfect introduction to Mendoza Malbec at a very attractive price. Some 390,000 bottles produced."

"This brand offers excellent value across the board, and this Zinfandel competes strongly with much more expensive bottlings. The balanced nose offers hearty blackberry, roasted meat, charcoal, violet and black pepper. The dark fruit and purple flowers of the palate are offset by gravelly minerality and dark chocolate flavors. Editors’ Choice"

"With its broad array of origins and clones, this 100% Pinot Noir displays aromas of cocoa, pomegranate and raspberry on the nose and the palate as well as a light touch of nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. True to Adelsheim's house style, it is elegantly textured with seamlessly integrated, silky, polished tannins."

"A superdark color and effusive aromas of wood smoke, raisin and dried fig set the stage for extremely concentrated, ripe fruit on the palate and a thickly tannic texture. The exuberance of the grape and blackberry flavors nicely counterbalances the firm texture. This will age well, so best to drink it after 2020."
