"This medium-bodied wine matches ripe black-plum and -cherry flavors with light yet firm tannins. A sense of concentration and density comes through on the palate and encourages the lingering finish."

"This admittedly huge wine offers tamed tannins, with a generous dose of spicy oak and a hint of sweetness that seem to absorb some of the astringency. It comes off as very concentrated and flavorful, showing an almost velvety texture."

"This is such a great buy from importer Michael Skurnik who turned to California for this wine. While supple in texture, the wine packs in dense red-cherry and ripe raspberry aromas and flavors that seem subtle at first but slowly open and expand with each sniff and sip. It has good layering and an excellent balance of moderate tannins and acidity."

"Appealingly old-school, with briary black cherry and smoky pepper beef flavors. A whiff of coconut helps build zestiness on the long finish. Drink now through 2024. 4,000 cases made."

"TThe aromatic expression of the 2017 Concreto Malbec is completely different from the 2016. This is a lot more open, floral and gentle, with a more polished and sleek palate with more integrated acidity. A wine of tremendous energy, it was kept in concrete all its life (hence the name) until it was bottled. 25,000 bottles were filled in December 2018, just before the next harvest."

"This is a pure expression of Sangiovese from 15-year-old vines in the little-known Terre di Pisa appellation. The 2014 Terre di Pisa Sangiovese Il Nero offers aromas of pressed rose, wet earth and wild Mediterranean brush. The Tuscany signature here is very strong indeed. The wine offers a level of distinct structure and power that is not unlike a Brunello di Montalcino or a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. It is aged in ten-year-old oak casks for further integration, definition and stability. Menthol-like freshness appears on the close."

"Charming aromas of cherry, strawberry and rose are inviting in this red, with flavors to match, showing ripeness and focus. Earth and mineral elements chime in as this firms up, but the harmony is there and this should really sing in about five years. Best from 2022 through 2040. 23,333 cases made."

" Extremely rich, deep and extracted on the nose, this bottling by Austin Hope is loaded with vanilla, cassis, caramel and Bourbon aromas. It’s rich, lush and soft on the palate, offering vanilla, sea-salt caramel and coffee flavors set against a black cherry core."

"As for the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall, this could be a wine flirting with perfection. It has unbelievable complexity already, with that wonderful sucrosity, blue and black fruits in abundance, an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, but no heaviness or rusticity. This is a seamless, flawless, compelling Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink beautiful upon release and for another 25-30+ years."

"This wine comes from a rare estate, in the same family since 1537, that has never used chemicals in the vineyard. The wine is richly endowed, spicy and juicy with soft tannins and a pure, crisp texture. It is poised, elegant and waiting to age further. Drink from 2023."
