"The incredibly perfumed 2017 Evodia was true to its name, as apparently 'evodia' means fragrant in the ancient Greek language. It's very easy to drink, with unnoticeable tannins and a long, lingering finish. Super tasty and impressive for the price."

"Clean and fresh, with a delicate, balanced profile of white raspberry, cherry and lemon zest supported by lightly tangy acidity. Hints of mineral and herb show on the finish. A Provence-style rosé. Drink now."

"A vibrant core of black cherry, black currant, cedar and tobacco flavors is framed by refined, if dusty, tannins in this red. In need of a bit of polishing in the bottle. Shows fine length. Best from 2021 through 2036. 2,000 cases imported."

"Concentrated raspberry and strawberry notes mark the nose fo the 2017 Tavel. This medium to full-bodied effort is bursting with ripe fruit and boasts a rich, silky mouthfeel and a long, lingering finish. An elegant undercurrent of crushed stone provides balance and savoriness, making this a terrific, balanced Tavel to enjoy over the next year or so."

"The 2016 Q Malbec was sourced mostly from Altamira but has some grapes from Chacayes. It fermented with 50% full clusters in concrete vats, and some 30% of the wine aged in used 225- and 500-liter oak barrels. The oak is unnoticeable, and in fact,it is pure, strict, raw and characterful, with plenty of fine-grained, chalky tannins. I find it to be incredibly good and with an amazing price for what it delivers. Availability should also be very good, as they produced 350,000 bottles of it. This is one to buy by the case."

"This widely available wine is a solid catch and stands out with its beautiful packaging. It offers a smoky nose that's complemented by lemon peel and sandalwood. Oak shows prominently on the palate, where smoked peach, melon and more lemon ride a creamy texture."

"This is a simply gorgeous bottle that’s loaded with fresh and palate-pleasing flavors of cut pear. Lively acidity with a mix of citrus brings extra life and length, and this will show best if decanted for an hour or two prior to drinking"

"A deep red-berry aroma meets with mocha and toasty oak on the richly layered nose of this bottling by the Riboli family. There is solid complexity to the palate, with chalky tannins sitting beside more cocoa, red fruit and light caramel. Drink now–2029."

"Giving up jammy notes of black raspberries, licorice, smoked herbs and chocolate, the 2015 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Chimeres (aged in demi-muid and concrete vates) needs to be snatched up by savvy readers. Full-bodied, deep and layered with incredible texture, I actually called this a mini SQN. I would gladly pay three to four times the going rate. Bravo!"

"This sophisticated effort is highlighted by bright, polished fruit flavors of apple, melon and white peach. It's long and focused, fresh and immaculate, with no apparent new oak."
