"A blend of 70% Grenache and 15% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, the 2015 Gigondas Domaine la Haut Marone is aged partially in second- and third-use barriques. There are touches of cedar and vanilla but also ripe cherries and stone fruit with ample weight and richness in the mouth and a long, mouthwatering finish."

"Ruby robed, this wine expresses elegant aromas of Morelo cherries, vanilla and spices; after aerating for a few moments, the nose develops notes of cooked fruits creating harmonious and great complexity. A smooth and ample attack in the mouth, with an elegantly well-incorporated woodiness and structure."

"This plump red shows cherry, red plum and orange peel flavors, tinged with sandalwood, tobacco and vanilla notes. Bright, citrusy acidity and light tannins give this a lively structure. Drink now through 2022. 12,000 cases imported."

"Meaty, black olive and licorice notes frame a core of currant fruit in this thick red. Chewy tannins and sweet-tart acidity give this a muscular structure. There's concentration here, if not much finesse. May show more harmony in time. Drink now through 2028. 20,000 cases imported."

"The 2015 Cabernet Franc Reserva was sourced from 15-year-old vines in Agrelo, from a rented vineyard that is worked by them. They are moving their viticulture towards organic farming. This is again quite subtle and balanced, with good ripeness and an herbal touch that adds freshness. Cabernet Franc is really working well in Mendoza, with some peppery notes. It's sleek and with fine-grained tannins, good balance and freshness. In the Reserva range the effect of the oak is very subtle. 15,000 bottles produced."

"This creative blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 15% Tannat, 13% Petit Verdot, 8% Syrah and 1% Petite Sirah offers roasted red-bell pepper, black gravel, black plums, chocolate cake and caramelized beef on the umami-driven nose. The palate is tighter, with elderberries, cranberries and decent tannic grip, proving tasty but not quite as exciting as the nose suggests."

"Like most young Hunter Valley Semillons, this is starting out on the neutral, acidic side. Notes of melon and citrus rind only hint at the potential to be found in a few years' time. It's a little weightier than expected, with a silky mouthfeel and a long, gentle, lime-riddled finish."

"A Bordeaux style blend, the palate is more Burgundian with soft elegant tannins and textures. The slightly higher than usual acids firmly frame a potpourri of blueberry and sour cherry. The fruit slowly subsides giving way to exotic spice, reminiscent of cardamom and finishing with sweet black licorice. Blend: 72% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot"

"A crazy value, the 2014 IGP Cotes Catalanes Tessellae Carignan Vieilles Vignes is one of the best examples of this variety from the Roussillon, and the fact that it sells for a song is just icing on the cake for the consumer. Coming all from schist soils and 70-year-old vines, raised 12 months in a mix of concrete tanks and demi-muids, it offers tons of black raspberry and black cherry fruit, licorice and dried spices to go with a super sexy, heady, seamless style on the palate that keeps you coming back to the glass. Drink this blockbuster over the coming 2-3 years."
