"Redolent with ripeness and lavish caramel-vanilla tones throughout, this blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah is very much an Austin Hope wine, alluring in aromas of lush blackcurrant, kirsch and melted chocolate on the nose. The palate is rich with espresso, German chocolate cake and crème de cassis, surrounded by flavors of molasses, brown sugar, coffee candy and even Scotch on the finish.."

"This wine is not at all petite, with its richly layered and concentrated palate. It has an abundance of fine-grained tannins to support its opulent flavors of dark fruits and oaky spices. Full bodied but plush and soothing in texture, it blends in 15% Petit Verdot. Drink through 2022."

"Fragrant and elegantly structured, this blend of Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo and Colorino opens with lovely aromas of pressed violet, iris, perfumed berry and baking spice. On the palate, notes of white pepper, toast, espresso and anise accent the black cherry core. Tightly knit but polished tannins give it a firm finish. Drink 2016–2022."

"The 2015 Aa is Sigalas' typical blend, 75/25 Assyrtiko and Athiri. An under-the-radar buy, this is very fine again this year, chock full of flavor and possessed of a long finish. What makes it more special, though, is the way it evolves in the glass with air and warmth, gradually showing more and more tension on the finish as well as an increasingly transparent demeanor. This is a beauty and a bargain,"

"A Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre blend, the 2012 Plexus has a medium-dense garnet color and offers kirsch, preserved plums, blueberry pie and dried mulberry notes with a Christmas fruit cake undercurrent. Full-bodied and packed with spicy, blackberry preserves flavors, it has velvety tannins and a refreshing lift in the long finish."

"Features edgy bay leaf and savory notes around a core of dense blackberry and fig fruit, while a chalky spine pins down the finish. Shows range and drive. Best from 2016 through 2025. 1,000 cases made."

" Fresh and focused, this firm red delivers bright cherry and wild berry fruit, with floral, citrus and mineral notes. Harmonious to the point of seeming simple, but the elegance masks impressive depth and intensity. Exhibits power with grace. Drink now through 2027. 500 cases imported. A blend of 65% Garnacha and 25% Cariñena and 10% Syrah"

"The 2012 Calluna Estate from Chalk Hill is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec. An elegant and beautiful wine with a deep ruby/purple color, Bordeaux-like minerality, crème de cassis, licorice, earth and spice. The tannins are sweet, the wine medium to full-bodied, complex and supple. This is a beauty that should drink well for 15-20 years. Impressive."

"Its ruby opaque color is followed by complex notes of garrigue, leather, plums and violets. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and layered, with a great texture, this fruit-forward, balanced Roussillon is already hard to resist, but will continue drinking nicely for 6-7 years"

"Classic and old school, with lots of gamy meats, olive, violets and sweet black raspberry and cassis fruit, it's full-bodied, concentrated and pure, with the focus and cut that's common in the vintage (in general, the 2012s are more expansive). There are just over 200 cases to go around, but it's a terrific Syrah that will have a decade or more of longevity."
